Halloween Book Project and video

Dear Parents,

We hope your children came home and told you wonderful stories about our fun and creative school day.  I am so proud of the progress they are making in the Mandarin language!

We are starting the weekend with a Halloween Mandarin Book reading project. The students made the book in the classroom, and we read it all together. I hope they practice their reading and storytelling to you at home. I posted my reading video in the blog already. Please video their reading and email the short video to mbbing@theglobeacademy.net. The video will need to be submitted to me by Monday, November 10^th.  

Requirements for the video:

l   Mandarin reading only- since this is a language immersion school, we need to practice Mandarin as often as possible

l   The students will act out the book’s story in the video

l   They cannot explain to you in English during the video

I look forward to seeing their creative videos by the 10^th of November.

Schedule details and MAP TESTING

Oct 28th, We will talk about bully depends on Monday Bully presentation. ---Crazy socks and shoes day
Oct. 29th Wednesday , Dr. Resee Will visit our mandarin classroom, Ms.Murphy's and Ms.Bai's room will combine together, talk about health/hygiene.
Thursday, Oct. 30th , Assembly for K/1 8:30 about staying healthy.
Oct. 31th, Friday, Dekalb county will visit our school. Book Character day dress up.

Map Test: Ms.Murphy and Ms. Bai's room will combine together do map test. Since the amount of computer, we will have some students in library while others do test in lab.
Testing time: Oct.29th Wednesday  8:15am
                      Nov. 3rd, Monday 8:15 am
The average testing time will last about 45 minutes.

Nice reminder: Please bring water bottle and snack for your kids every day.
                         Please bring the mandarin journal back in the next time when the students come to mandarin.

Reading time

Rug rhyme : They paste the rhyme on their mandarin journal, and drew picture next to each sentence to illustrate. They also shared the reading with each other. We kept the buddy reading with kinder. We add new topic every two weeks. When they practiced with their partners, they did the new topic and old topic together.

Garden project due date

Nice reminder: 

• Don't forget  practice your mandarin through your mandarin journal at home, time can be before dinner, before bed, any time you feel comfortable. :)
• Please check the staff from your kids folder every day(may be in the backpack too, in case they drop something there). Use the materials we put in the folder to practice, like the Chinese flash cards.

The Week of Oct. 20 and Oct.27

Language art: We will continue work on the problem and solution finding. We used the book that the students were familiar with in English, but in Chinese edition.They drew the picture that reflect the problem and solution they found in the book, and illustrate in Chinese sentence. Also, we will use the Chinese story "mouse steal oil" to look for problem and solution in it too. Extra reading staff: Halloween words, rug rules rhyme.

Math: Keep working on two digit add one digit, also add plus ten more, minus ten more. 

Science: We started garden already last week. We will keep working on garden. Since taking a lot test in October, we use computer time to work on garden project. Qiao lao shi taught the science class. She brought our students to garden, they created a garden book by themselves. Each student grew a bean in the bag, and hang up on our classroom.
