Journal Book Using

Dear parents,

We will send the mandarin journal book home every day starts this week. But please make sure bring it back the next day, because we still gonna need it for our class.

Reason for sending home: 

• You will see how the kids do mandarin in the classroom.
•  It's the opportunity to practice it at home.

How to use mandarin journal book: 

• The kids will choose their favorite,either the rhyme, the song, the story, the words, the sentence by themselves, and they will read for you or read themselves.Sound out reading,silent reading, or singing.
• I didn't put the limitation for choosing, for example , has to read the specific ryhme or sentence. 
• They can do one or multiple at a time. 
• The one I circle in red color(not for everybody) is the mistake one when they read for me.Therefore, they can pay attention to that one when they read.

The week of Oct. 6th and Oct. 13th and TESTING TIME

Language Art: We will start our finding problems and get the solution. I will use the book The Knuffle Bunny and Radi Cat Go To School that the students are familiar with. We will do whole group discussion and small group sharing ideas to find out the interesting things in the story. Also, I would like our students to work on the story" I have a little donkey" and " Mouse steal oil"(we learned the story already) by themselves. They will find the problems happened  in the story and solve the problems by themselves through role play, drawing pictures, small group sharing. English class will do the same theme(problem solving) as the mandarin class. I will also add the ocean animals name under the language part.(only mandarin class)

Math: We will start adding numbers with two digit and one digit. Students will practice these through centers, like rolling dice, number card adding, word problems play...

Science/Social study: We will start our garden very soon, so it will be really helpful for English and mandarin both classes.

Test in October a lot. Please let your kids relax more at home since they will have testing at school. I posted all testing time in this month, hope it will be helpful for you!

Words with pictures as flash card

Dear parents,

I made the words with the pictures together this time , and I will send these in the students' folders. It will be easier for you and kids for using and making flash card.  

I will also send the words list as before, but these just for let you know what we have been working on for the last two weeks.
